Application Design is the art and skill of using different technology skillsets together to solve complex business functions.

Design is not only the look and feel of an application, the GUI, it is also the ability to grow it easily and upgrade it easily. We feel the most important peice of a project is analysis and design, not development. Although we are a development company, we understand the significants of good analysis work. Projects where analysis is lacking more often goes over budget and doesn't give the customer what they really asked for.

One approach is a black-box application or a prewritten and purchased software solution. Too often companies settle for black-box type applications that fit about 80% of their business requirements. The other 20% is often built by the seller of the black-box application at astronomical prices. While custom programming may not be cheaper, there is one primary benefit to going custom. The benefit is ownership. With black-box solutions you get software that is constantly changing. And if the company does not require you to pay for the upgrade, more often than not you will be paying the black-box software company to rewrite any special programming your company purchased during any previous software release(s) / update(s).
